Creative Ways To Attract International Visitors
International tourism is a key and vital economic driver in building the U.S. economy and this month, data released by the National Travel and Tourism Office further reinstated this importance. Statistics revealed international visitors spent $21.1 billion in January and $21.0 billion in February on travel to, and tourism-related activities within, the United States setting a new record for U.S. travel and tourism exports. Year-to-date tourism exports totaled a record-setting $42.1 billion for the first two months of 2017, an increase of nearly 3 percent (nearly $1.1 billion) when compared to the same period last year. International visitors are opening their wallets wider than ever before. Indeed, international visitors are injecting, on average, nearly $715 million a day into the U.S. economy and supporting nearly 1.2 million American jobs. However, recent travel bans have created anxiety among visitors and those working in this industry with many stakeholders forecasting a decrease in international visitation. To defy this, CVBs have launched creative campaigns to amplify the message that destinations are continuing to welcome visitors. Read more here. Ways to Lower Your Spring Break Expenses
Spring Break is one of the busiest travel periods and it is no surprise that airfares and hotel rates are high during this time. Add in the cost of sightseeing and entry to attractions, and the bill for that Spring Break getaway becomes astronomical. Yet with the Go City Card, a multi-attraction pass available in 12 of the most popular tourist destinations across the U.S., Spring Break is the same as any other time of year, meaning families can save up to 55 percent off entry versus if they purchase their tickets individually at each attraction. Even better, Smart Destinations has updated a number of its products to include more attractions. New additions are: The Go Los Angeles Card now includes tours such as Celebrity Homes Tours by Starline Tours, and Self-Guided GPS Bike Tour by Bikes & Hikes; Go San Diego Card includes a variety of cruises by Hornblower Cruises; Orlando Explorer Pass offers entry to Chocolate Kingdom; and New York City Explorer Pass added round-trip bus tour to Woodbury Common with VIP coupon booklet, and a one-day Hop-on Hop-off Big Bus New York Classic Tour. It is never too late to purchase a pass. The Go City Card offers instant access once the online purchase is made and there are no additional entry charges. It is a great benefit because we all know how the day's plans can change in an instant with kids around. And, non-activated cards can be returned for a full refund within one year of the purchase date.
